Players or Manager????

So our problems just come down to motivation do they? Not selections, tactics etc. Interesting.

So we lost yesterday because of tactics and team selection. Interesting.

I doubt that, it will take much longer to turn the squad around from one of quality to one of quality with a winning mentality.

The first step is weeding out the garbage...which is what will be done this window and in the summer. Won't make us world beaters overnight...but will at least begin to address the fundamental problems which have been at the core of this club since the heady days of the Ali Mackintoss show...

Not that I ever suggested that was the case, but it certainly didn't help.

It will be a gradual approach IMO and it will depend on who we can get in. A good two year process IMO to totally turn around the mentality of the side.

Have to say also, I'm gaining a newfound respect for the work Pearce and Makintosh did. People are telling me that all our squad bar a few are crap. SP didn't have the benefit of the likes of Robinho, SWP, Kompany, Zabaleta. Ireland was still in the early stages of his career and Sturridge was a kid. And he still did pretty much as well as Hughes is doing.

Kudos to SP and Ali Mac.

"I think he understands that successful teams aren't built from the top down. I disagree with Martin in the sense that if you try to buy these superstar players they are not going to want to go there unless they are complete charlatans because who wants to be involved in a relegation scrap and got knocked out of the Carling Cup by Brighton?

"So their motives for going there in the first place would be suspect. I'm not saying that all of Mark Hughes' targets are right but the first priority for that club is to support the manager in terms of being completely ruthless with this current set of players.

"He accused them yesterday (Saturday) of a lack of desire. It's quite clear that they switch it on and off when they want to play a game and the first job of the manager is to cull those players that aren't contributing properly, who aren't fully committed.

"The owners have either got to support the current group of players and say the manager is the problem, or support the manager and say the players are the problem. I think they should support Mark Hughes and give him the chance to build a team from scratch."

Even though I don't agree 100% with either I thought both made a lot of sense in that piece.

You can't compare the competitiveness of the premiership then, with the what it's like this season.

And giving kudos to Ali Mac? If it weren't such a risible notion, I'd be pissing myself laughing at you right now...

I thought it would give you a bit of a laugh.

But you know I'm right anyway.

Your always right Moomba. It's the rest of us who are delusional...;- )

this last bit caught my eye and this i think seems to be the big question atm and needs to be sorted quickly either way for our club.

mh as said we are shit without our golden boys but just thinking how many games have we won with
