Players Past Their Best

In hindsight, everyone, bar Anelka, in that 7 year period, before the takeover, between 2001-2008.

Keegan's reckless gambling leaving poor old John Wardle, in particular, without a pot to piss in. (While 'King Kev', in anticipation of the inevitable typhoon ahead, had heroically stolen the ship's only remaining lifeboat in the dead of night, and hurriedly f*cked off, leaving all other hands on deck to face whatever perils they may.

To anyone saying Vieira, you're nuts. The guy always put a shift in when he played. Rated him above De Jong and Barry any day of the week.

Yeah Distin, Hart, Zabaleta, Corluka, Sturridge, Richards, Kompany all well past it.

Yeah Distin, Hart, Zabaleta, Corluka, Sturridge, Richards, Kompany all well past it.

Distin, Hart, Zabaleta, Corluka, Sturridge, Richards, Kompany.

Richards: I'm taking about experienced players, who were supposedly bought for immediate first team inclusion. - but who, in reality, were all sitting around on their fat arses, greedily leeching the club dry of money that it clearly didn't have, and not giving a f*ck, (Keegan included), rather than some promising kid, with the potential to step up in the future, that we picked up for a song from a lower league club.

Ditto, Hart.

Ditto, Sturridge. - Although gowing by his injury record, both while at City and beyond, I can't think of anyone who the phrase "Past Their Best," would apply to more aptly.
Massive bullet dodged there, in my opinion.

Distin - Good riddance. Greedy B*stard couldn't wait to jump ship (Immediately prior to the takeover) when things looked a bit rocky, and sulked like a big girl's blouse, for week's beforehand, in order to force through a 'big money' move (To Portsmouth ffs)

Ditto, Chorluka. (Who had also supposedly "bettered himself" by pissing off to the spuds, at around the same time.

Their agents, in particular, I'm sure, regretting it big time, a week or so later, once the takeover was officially announced.

To both, I say, "Good riddance You reap what you sow"....

Kompany - First player to sign POST TAKEOVER

Zabaleta - Also Signed POST TAKEOVER

Distin left a year before the ADUG takeover and had no need to force a move as his contract had expired and he left on a free. He was pretty professional for most of his time at City.
Can't really blame someone for wanting to leave City when we were managed by Pearce, we hardly looked like a team likely to progress a career.

Corluka played well enough till he left.

Kompany and Zab both signed immediately pre take over though it was pretty likely that money was put in just before the take over happened in anticipation of the takeover.

I think Robinho and Berti were the first players signed post takeover.

Weah is the obvious one that comes to mind, however, to add one that hasnr been named; Tim Flowers.
Davies did a brilliant job for us. Worst decicision Big Mal ever made, when he fucked him off to the scum. Would've walked that league in 73 if he'd stayed.

I think you've missed the point of the thread. Nobody is saying he was shit but surely you can see that he was past his best? Would you have preferred him when he was with us or the Arsenal midfielder who dominated the league?

Have to disagree there. Not past his best when he signed for us. Perhaps it's my blue tinted glasses but from what I remember he was exactly what we needed at the time and he hadn't had a great career due to injuries before joining us.

Was a great Captain for us and didn't he get sent off for something daft a la Kevin Horlock's aggressive walking?
