Players signed by City after fine performances against us.

Re: Players signed by City after fine performances against u

Anybody remember the Coventry FA Cup game at Maine Road in 82?

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who fell for the superstitious bollocks in the Evening News. “City always win the FA Cup after losing at Wembley the previous year”

I think we were 2-0 down after ten minutes. We pulled one back through a penalty and for the last 20 minutes we looked as though we might equalize.

Unfortunately Coventry counter attacked and a future nondescript blue chipped Joe Corrigan before sliding on his knees in front of the North Stand/Kippax corner. A young City fan was memorably caught by the Match of the Day cameras flicking the V’s.

Anyone remember his name or anything meaningful from his brief City career the following season?

Ian Bishop - Bournemouth against us in 1989 (the game we expected to have a party at; Swales brought in a piped band; stadium packed - though attendance posted was someway short of what we all knew was in there!; nice, convincing half time lead; and somehow the game ends in a draw).
remember that game well. ian bishop was outstanding. funnily enough I remember a few Bournemouth fans dressed as arabs. platt lane end was rammed with Bournemouth fans

Strangely enough I had been thinking about this thread and Peter Bodak all day (but not on the laptop! - Honest!)
He actually signed for the rags from cov and don't think he played for them and then signed for us. Scored against Brum I recall (maybe his debut???) and then fuck all.......

Also Mike Summerbee.

The one that springs to mind recently was Samir Nasri who destroyed City in the 3-0 Arsenal win at Eastlands.

I know some may find it hard to believe, but Ged Brannan actually played well, for Tranmere, against us!
Also Colin Hendry.

Re: Players signed by City after fine performances against u

Was reminded of Lee Peacock on another thread!
I was one of the 3007 to witness his two goals in City's only Freight Rover trophy game (or whatever it was called then) for Mansfield at Maine Road.
