Players who might improve us

Watched Leverkusen-Krasnodar yesterday, Julian Brandt was immense.

Bosz has converted him from inside forward/AM into a Pep-style 8.

Compared to KdB he has roughly the same height and physique, same ability to play both in attack and midfield, same powerful shot, worse (though still very impressive) delivery but much better technique on the ball and ability in tight spaces (almost Zidane/Iniesta-like).

Also, he's less dynamic than KdB when gets forward and relies more on short passing and silky technique.

in the german media they recently stated that he has a release clause in his contract (between 25- and 30mio euros) this summer.
bayern is heavily linked with him, havertz and werner though.

werner is also available this summer for around 40mio.

£21.6m apparently. That`s ridiculous for a player of his calibre. Would be a steal for the team that signs him. Seems very versatile, has played 16 games at LW, 6 at RW, and 10 at AM. We would have to sell someone to get him I guess though

Simply means Bayern will get reinforcements for peanuts as usual.

Always been surprised that we went for Mahrez, especially at the price we paid. I posted last January when we were first linked to him that it reminded me of the Bony signing - a bit desperate. I’d happily let him leave if we were to replace him with another pacey winger to rotate with Sterling and Sane.

The one dimensional cut inside and shoot didn’t fit with Nolito, and it doesn’t fit with Mahrez.

Needs to be said that this guy is our record signing, I always have faith in our recruitment process but Mahrez has continually struck me as a shoe that didn’t fit.

I still reckon Lozano would be a better alternative.

douglas costa >>> mahrez. he is a one man wrecking crew when given the chance. he is not shining at juve cause their style of play is horrendous, also dybala and ronaldo are ahead of him in the pecking order. would fit better with pep than mahrez

Eriksen.Has a year left on his deal in the summer. Would go all out for him. He’s one that can actually challenge players like De Bruyne.

It would also be another power move from our club. Think Spurs would sell for £60m-£70m? If Eriksen told them he’s not resigning. A top player entering his prime. Gundogan out for £30m-£40m and our squad is improved.

This wouldn’t block Foden’s path either because Dave seems to be running out of gas.

Eriksen under Pep would further improve. Scary proposition.

Why would he come here when there's no guarantee of playing and Madrid want him to replace Modric?

Ruben Loftus-Cheek would be an absolute monster under Pep. A real shame he's at Chelsea, pretty much any other club would be using him regularly. The level of technical skill he has is superb and you can see he has the speed of thought needed at the top.

I would see how interested Chelsea are in keeping him with his contract expiring in 2021 if Gundogan is really thinking of leaving. He could probably play both roles like Gundogan, and he has that same ability to score goals off late runs into the box.

Having someone who is 6'4 and fast too would be an interesting physical option to have in the squad too, Pep loved Seydou Keita at Barca because he could come in and front up physically to help out Xavi and Iniesta.

Yes! Totally agree with this. Think he's an excellent player just waiting to be trusted by the right manager.

I think you're right, but not so sure it would be Pep. He doesn't seem like a Pep midfield 3 player to me, more Yaya than Silva, KDB, Bernardo and not a pivot.

why couldn't Loftus Cheek play pivot? He has all the attributes. Dinho was never a defensive midfielder, always a box to box or attacking mid until he came here.

the only question mark over loftus cheek for me is his reading of the game.

I'll throw a name into the mix - Marc Roca, Espanyol. Deep lying playmaker, 22 years old. Six foot, very good passer, intelligent. Xabi Alonso-esque. Real are interested but it's the kind of signing i'd love us to make

If we're facing a 1 year transfer ban we should really go for the following:

Matthijs De Ligt. We need another world class centre back to challenge Laporte and Stones and there is zero doubt De Ligt is like Mbappe in the defensive line. We need him. Kompany is out this or next season we all know Otamendi did great last season but he is too much of a loose cannon.
• A young CDM. No Thiago from Bayern. We need a strong midfielder who can pass, tackle, hold the ball. My best guess is we will go for either Rice or Ndombele.
• A left back. Zinchenko did great as a stand-in but we can't say he should be our number one just because he had a few games. Benjamin Mendy might never get his knees in shape again so we need to start looking for real talent here. Ben Chilwell is my choice. We need to put our left back problems to bed once and for all.
• There's a lot of talks of both a striker and right back. I wouldn't say any of these positions are in need of new players. It's hard as it is to get all attackers happy about their playing time. A bonus would be Wan Bissaka but I doubt it. What would happen to Danilo, third place?

De Light is good but not the Mbappe of defense (at least not in my opinion). I like who we have even without Kompany. Otamendi and Sandler are more than enough. We already have World Class starters at CB.

Zinchencko is better than Chillwell in a Pep system. But Chillwell is a good player. He doesn't have World Class potential in my view, so I'm not geeked to get him. Even though I can see him.being good enough to start here.

Ndombele has the (he could be Fernandihno lite thing going for him) but I think Pep wants a better version of Jorghino rather than a Dihno type. I'd say Rodri, but Ndombele works too. Either would give us a fantastic base.

However, the talk at Striker and RB is wherewher real magic lies. There are 2 player who are potential Mbappe's at their position Joao Felix at AM/Striker and AWB at RB.

If we really want to take that next level jump where we are dominating the Barca, Bayern and Real. This is the kind of move you make. You go get the future now. With Authur Melo and De Jong, Barca is anticipating the post Messi Era, we'll need to make sure they don't find that era welcoming.

Signing Felix, Wan-Bissaka and, Rodri will help in that cause. If Gundogan leaves, one of Dany Lowe or Walker can be moved.

Next year will be a great transitioning with the last of the originals bowing out next season (Kompany, Aguero, David and Fernandihno). And the new plus the established young leading the future.

Captain: Kevin Debryune, Deputy John Stones.
Keep: Ederson, Muric
CDDef: Stones, Laporte, Sandler, Garcia ( if he makes it)
RB: Wan-Bissaka, Walker
LB: Zinchencko, Mendy
DM: Rodri, Claudio Gomez/Palaversa
AM: Debryune, Bernado, Foden, Felix
WF: Sterling, Sane, Mahrez, ?
ST: Jesus, Felix
