Players who might improve us

No freaking italians, Hope Enzo looks more to Spain where he played for a long time as well and influenced by. Im a bit worried with Viana though..

You can literally tell Viana signings from Txiki ones. Khusanov, Reis and everyone we’ve gotten since the summer window. The rest in the 2025 January window were all Txiki.
Out of Viana’s signings, only really Reijnders has underperformed. RAN was good when he played as an actual LB and not a pseudo LW or inverted LB.

Interestingly, Ayoub Bouaddi (18), the young defensive midfielder at Lille, has decided to represent Morocco and might now go to the World Cup this summer. Played in the same France U21 side as Cherki.
Outstanding talent and shows the embarrassment of riches ahead of him.
PSG accelerating a move for Bouaddi and negotiating with his agent. PSG have a wonderful midfield, adding Bouaddi would be fantastic business for them.

Football has moved through the Guardiola period of high technique and tight spaces to the last 3 years of physical football and set piece grappling. It will change again, perhaps not back to what saw us dominate the ball and trophies, but perhaps something closer to the football of the early Guardiola reign and what we’re currently seeing in Paris and Barcelona. A way to beat physicality is to isolate individual opponents by stretching them, keeping the ball moving quickly, and by using the entire length and width of the pitch. That will require players not only with high technique but also with phenomenal engines and pace. New fitness coaches will therefore be just as important as new players, and if it is to be that style of football, then domestic cups will be a secondary concern.

The type of players we identify should give us an inkling of what type of football we can expect next.
