These were great players in their own right, but I didn't follow their club football at the time so didn't know a lot about them other than their international performances.

Guillermo Ochoa - Mexico keeper. Turns up at a world Cup makes about 50 saves in the groups stages to get them to the last 16 then they get knocked out and he disappears to whichever random club he's playing for at the time.

That’s what proper emotion when scoring a goal is…
None of the complete bollox of choreographed/rehearsed moves, no repetitive suiiii’s etc

Just the sheer unadulterated joy released in the moment.

N.Korea 1966.
Scored the goal that knocked out Italy and very nearly did the same to Portugal. Eusebio to the rescue. 5-4 after 4-0 to Korea iirc. Great game.
PS EDIT. Just checked. 5-3 after 3-0 to Korea.
