Players you didn’t realise how good they were or appreciated them until they left.

Brightwell was wasted at the back - loved him as a midfielder chipping in with goals early in his career

Been watching a few season reviews recently and it’s outrageous how many goals he’s at fault for.

Genuinely think he was lower Championship/League One level.

Probably probably didn’t realise as much at the time because it just felt like the norm.

Anelka was one of the best player’s we’ve ever had. And one of the most important. Had he not kept us up we’d have gone to our new home in the second tier, and I doubt the rest of what has happened would have followed.
Anelka was hugely important, He was excellent for us. Wanchope was just as important in that season, His goal against Newcastle was massive.

Of course, I remember him fondly. Another one of Swales knew better meddling mistakes.
I think we were always going to lose him and £1.7m seemed a massive amount of money at the time.

Quick story, in approx 88 when we played stoke on boxing day, me dad took me and as he is a huge racing fan he wanted to stop at a hotel on the way to watch a race so went to the one just off the m6, a500. Was it a hilton? Walked to the tv room and the whole city team was in it! I was star struck. A bit shocked!

Paul stewart called me over, i sat next to him and he chatted to me about football, christmas , school, all sorts. He was brilliant. As a 14 year old to be sat with the team was something dreams were made of

Glauber Berti - You could always count on the bench when he was there.

Mark Ward. Criminal how underated by City fans he was. Busy, mischievous little player.
