Players you wished had stayed longer

  1. For me it’s Paul Stewart. An absolute bargain when we signed him from Blackpool for either 200k or 250k. His partnership with Imre Varadi flanked by David White and Paul Simpson was brilliant. We never saw the best of him and I was absolutely gutted when we sold him. He was a fantastic striker and one of my top 3 or 4 favourite players, to play for us.

Not so much "stayed longer", more "bought sooner". Ali Benarbia. In the stayed longer bracket, another year of Bellamy would have been good, even if his physical condition would limit his minutes on the pitch.

Agreed. Thought Gaudino was a class act but Franny was obsessed with signing Kinkladze. Walsh was swapped for Creaney - words fail me on that bit of business

The only football team to come from Manchester!
    Trevor Francis..

To be fair to Swales he spent some money back then, Steve Daley and Kevin Reeves were both over a million pounds, huge money back then.

Francis was a top class player back then and scored some great goals for us..
