Playing in our away shirts in home game?

Does anybody else on here remember a European match against Acadamica de Combria in 1970 ? I was a young kid at the time and as I recall the Portuguese team turned up in an all black kit which clashed with the Referee's strip. The ref wanted them to don City's red & black away shirts; but they refused and said they would rather forfeit the quarter final tie. I think it was resolved by the referee agreeing to wear the City away shirt instead.

The kick-off was delayed until the ref's badges were sewn on to his white shirt. All I can remember about the match was a huge crowd, Coimbra timewasting from the first minute and City scoring the only goal in extra time. Can't for the life of me remember who scored.
