That's very impressive, without doubt - granted, and no, I've had no idea's, I just try and vocally back the team for 90 minutes and try not too moan too much.
But we are talking about original ideas in improving the atmosphere - it's not all to my taste either but let them throw a few idea's around, instead of coming across as dour and defeatist, that's all.
Fair enough and thanks for an honest response.
There is a problem admittedly with the atmosphere, but songs, chants and atmosphere in general have always evolved naturally. There are too many people trying to guarantee an atmosphere and, of course, there are no guarantees in football or in life either. I suspect there are many people who simply want to watch the match and don't want to be railroaded into getting involved in some kind of sideshow. It never works, and the fact that different parts of the old grounds housed different kinds of supporters who chose to watch the match and show their support in different ways - from the flask and tartan blanket brigade in the old Platt Lane to those who made the noise in the Kippax and everyone else in between.
The clubs or, more likely, the League have to take their share of the blame too. Every game's presented in the same way: the presentations at the beginning, the handshakes, the endless photographs. There's only the national anthem missing from the new egalitarian stadia.
I suspect most people were happy when a bare bulb went on in the tunnel and the ripple that started opposite, in the middle of the Kippax, became a roar as the teams came out.
Maybe I'm just getting old but razzmatazz belongs at the circus, not at a football match.
