Please explain 'Bump'

When some ones posts on here and some one request 'bump' what does it mean?
I have just post the 'ticker tape streamer thread' and the first request is to 'bump it' does it mean to keep the post at the forefront or something? cheers blues.

Yes, it means for someone to keep posting in the thread to keep it at the top of the page.

it bumps your thread to the top of the page so people will see it rather than go right down to the bottom were peole may not be bothered to look
