and Chris, on the the City website, has even posted an extra article:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2012/February/St-Gabriels-visit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/20 ... iels-visit</a>

This visit really has created a great buzz around the town - and I gather that they're going down a storm in Donegal, too.

It's not as if we're starved of international sports stars in Limerick (we were the European Capital of Sport last year) but the unassuming and dignified way that City went about this visit has really touched the people around here. Even people who weren't there but heard about it and know that I'm a City fan are stopping me in the street to express their gratitude and admiration (or it must be said, slightly-grudging-but-good-natured envy in the case of fans of other sides) for the entire thing.
I've never been more proud to be Blue.

In a week when I am reading about the return of the monstrousity that is Carlos Tevez and how some blues would literally sell their soul to the devil to win the title, this article reminds me about everything that is good about our club and what they do.

Excellent stuff...

Great report, reminds me of what being a blue is all about, lucky enough to have supported the blues from 1967 so seen our success's, demises and now our new successes, but the blues I know have never lost their sense of humour and humility.

Giving something back to the fans (not highlighted in the press surprise surprise!) long may it continue.

Excellent, does anyone know when they"re in Cookstown?

I read that on the OS and wondered why Cookstown?
I'm getting my mum to send me the newspaper clippings.
Big supporters club there&they have events involving other clubs pretty regularly I believe

brilliant post.

my daughter goes to the valley in bramhall, and the xmas plays bring the house down,to see the children with not a care in the world enjoying themselves so much when their lives are so troubled brings a tear to the eye .anyway, every year they have an auction and there is always loads of offical city stuff, signed balls, photos ect,our club really is a wonderful club if you look under all the nasty headlines.

I was lucky enough to be in Cookstown last night and a superb evening it was, ample chances to get the pictures with the FA cup, a chat with the gentleman that is Paul Lake and a great way to enjoy watching the game.

The sheer pride of the CITC staff and the enjoyment that they have from giving something back to the supporters of the club was plain to see, we really are lucky to support such a great community based club.

ONCE A BLUE......
