Pogba Alternatives?

So who are you leaving out for either of those two then ? Let's forget DeBruyne & imagine the team which played Chelsea. Who misses out for those two ?

We are speaking of Pogba alternatives, so whoever comes in would be the long term heir to yaya's position. Even if we got Pogba it's difficult for me to see who he would replace in the team that fronted up against Chelsea in the short term. Fielding a team with yaya and pogba together in a midfield of 2 would be suicidal so the only 2 options would be to to replace yaya with pogba, but IMO yaya is currently the better player, or to push Yaya forward and Silva out wide and sacrifice navas, which is not ideal as Silva plays his best football behind the striker.

I also think Pogba is seriously overrated. He has the pace, power and ability to produce brilliant moments in common with Yaya. However, he doesn't have anything like the vision, control and passing creativity that Yaya has. Those are the attributes that people really underrate about Yaya. His brilliance isn't that he is a beast - it's the marriage of beauty and beast that he possesses.

He's 22 years old. You're paying for current skill, marketability, and a serious upside. I wouldn't call him overrated at all. I would for sure call it a major risk splashing out 75m or whatever the fee is but I sure as shit would love to take that risk. Possibly the biggest + is a step up in levels as far as our club standing and national respectability is concerned.

Imo any 2 in a midfield vs top sides is a gamble. But it worked resoundingly vs Chelsea. In the end it's down to how hard the team works. If City had been as committed & hardworking as barca last season, then imo we would have won the league & given Barca much more of a game.

But I keep seeing those two names, Kovacic & Pjanic, & I just don't get how they would improve City. Especially Kovacic. I don't even know what it's supposed to be, that he does.

Nainggolan would add a lot of energy to the midfield.

Fernandinho Silva Nainggolan
De Bruyne Aguero Sterling

This would allow us to really press teams like we did against Chelsea and provide solid defensive cover for the back four. Substitute Silva/De Bruyne for Yaya/Navas based on fitness, injuries, opposition, rotation etc.
Nainggolan is a good shout but not much resale value as 28 next year but much better than Pjanic and Kovacic right now. Kovacic may be one for the future but not convinced and Pjanic just doesn't work hard enough. I'd still like Veratti or Carvalho but unless we shift one of either Fernando or Nasri can't see any more coming in after KDB.
