Pointless Comparison no. 1 - City and Spurs last night

Fail Paul. Look for the season, it's the only fair way

It's not our early away form that is allowing the likes of Spuds and Chelsea catching us up in the league or the away draws in the FA cup causing a fixture pile up.

Sorry for the long post, but I've been frustrated by the persistent comparisons between the two games on here since last night, which I feel is disingenuous at best, and is completely pointless and unhelpful in terms of actually assessing the merits and limitations of our two teams.

Well you should apologise and to be honest I didn't watch spurs.

There are so many complexities in an argument like that I wouldn't know where to begin.

Spurs at the current moment are much better than us and no amount of blue bias is gonna change my mind. If we all thought logically we'd all agree that we wouldn't beat AC Milan without Tevez and Silva.

Are you a City fan?
yeah of course I'm a city fan. Why else would I join the forum? Just cos I think logically and can admit someone is better than us doesn't mean I support someone else.

Well personally I've always taken the attitude of being objective and unbiased.

Historically we did beat them in the San Siro with a ton less money in about '78.

Irrelevant I know, but the point is that we expect too much too soon.

It takes *time* to let players come and go and form a winning side.

Come again mate?

I genuinely haven't the foggiest what you're trying to say.

If you disagree with me, at least have a go at saying why, rather than just saying my arguments are wrong with no justification for your point of view.

The intention of my post was to stimulate debate, and I can't see much of that in your reply. Give it a go - it makes the forum a far more interesting place if people actually explain their arguments.

Great minds...

DDLDDLD

As i said this year absoulute fukin gash away from home.

as i said what a load of shit, you didn't say this year, you said carte blanche
they are good and we are crap, not true
since boxing day not the best i grant you, but it will return
suppose utd are gash with their away record only 3 wins out of 12?
two of those away league games were arsenal and utd. the two most difficult away games you can have in the league and we preformed creditably in both
the villa game was one of those games.
the poor game i suppose was birmingham but we could and should have won it.
hardly gash.
it the half full/half empty stance
you are obviously half empty

What is it some of you City fans want? This is Mancini's FIRST full season at the helm. Players have changed, the system of play has changed as well as the expectation of what we can/could/ should acheive.
Kolarov and Boateng are only just starting to show some form, Balotelli has been plagued by injuries and hasn't had a good extended run yet and we have and sre missing a couple of key players. We are still very much a work in progress. To compare City and spuds in two matches when they were not playing each other is madness.
We are where we are in the league on merit just as the spuds are. This time of the season is when the main challengers for the league kick on. Can we kick on and mount a serious challenge? Honestly no. Can spuds? Again no, and that's because both teams haven't the experience of doing it.
We have a better team and a better squad than most of the PL but what we don't have yet is the best team spirit. That is what we need to push on. We need CL football next season just so we can hopefully get players that will take us on. We also have players adapting to the PL which is and will take time, and as fans we have to be patient. Comments like we're gash are just plain ridiculous, as I have already stated we are where we are on merit.
