Matt Gray was a right-sided midfielder - we used to call them right-halves. He is the answer to a City trivia quiz question - when Harry Dowd got injured and played up front, scoring a goal, and Colin Bell made his League debut for Bury (City v Bury), who went in goal for City (no subs then)?

remember bobby owen scored twice on his debut in the 6-1 win in the charity shield versus west brom at maine road . Signed from Bury to strenghten our 68 title side , turned out to be a right lemon.
 
George Weah - I remember thinking we could get top 4 when he signed. Brought back down to earth after going to Charlton on a fine summer's day for the first game of the season and getting stuffed 4-0. That was a long journey home.
