Poland after WWII reparations from Germany

All part of Poland along with Hungary having had a bellyful of the EU and all it stands for and its a shot across the bows of Germany for obvious reasons.

That was my first thought. There's a lot of shit going on in the EU at the moment, it could be thought that it's unravelling thread by thread.

more like jockeying for position perhaps? Maybe some of these countries want to get one over on Merkel so that she doesn't decide the EU Brexit stance on her own - perhaps Poland would refuse to sign off on any deal without continued access to UK labour markets and would tell Merkel if she can get that for them they won't push her on the cash for Blitzkieg scam they have worked up !

Think you will find we have sorted it with Germany a long time ago.

The whole allied post war strategy of not punishing Germany was designed to not repeat the mistakes of Versailles which had enabled Hitler to seize power.
A repeat of the French hardline stance after WW1 was never going to happen.
It would of course be a nice gesture if the Germans coughed up some cash as a goodwill gesture but it won't happen.

Interestingly, they dismissed any 'further' reparations (to the small amounts the agreed to pay) until there was a unification of Germany. Since that happened and the Euro came into being, Germany has become extraordinarily wealthy on the back of a currency which had been massively suppressed by the countries most eligible for reparations. It's a brilliant scam (sorry, brilliant scheme........).

Yep, a brilliant scheme. The creation of the euro has been a huge economic boost for them. It's a pity that they begrudge the internal transfers that go along with a unified monetary policy.
