Scratch the first one. Heard that he doesn’t use the last name (Depay) as his father left when he was 4 years old.
Well in my defence I didn’t say there weren’t good reasons for it.
It’s not so much that he doesn’t use Depay which is totally his choice, it’s more that he wants to be known mononymously, like he thinks he’s Madonna or Prince or something. Just change your name like a normal person, comes across as arrogant.

When I saw it, I looked it up (a while back, something out of character for me). His grandfather was a big part of his life. So, still keeping the name was understandable. However, like you said, he could change it but it is what it is.
I’m usually nonplussed by off-field things. Why I detest Bruno Fernandes as he’s a **** on the pitch. Fuck knows if he’s a saint off it. Nonetheless, I can understand why you’re not a fan of Depay. Not to say that I am but the headband, the names, etc doesn’t bother me as much as he’s decent player. There are worse players with more arrogance than him.
It’s worth pointing out there’s a large Polska flag behind the Dutch goal, fans from the town of Oświęcim….The Germans and the Dutch despise each other. Much deeper than throwing blow-up Spitfires around.
