We were treated like utter shit. The old bill was gagging for it to kick off . The midland 5-0 can fuckin --- full stop.

Same in the 70s .the football "specials " were anything but ,& always met by loads of Police & Dogs .what a lovely welcome ,after the game it was usualy every man for him self

Yes i should imagine quite a few high ranking officers used rent boys during this era.....oops mis read thread title..

quite a few places in those days we were grateful there was an escort...
the one from lime street station to badison seemed like a boot camp march

soon realized the way to avoid both trouble and the escort was to turn up dead early and get pissed.never looked back once the penny had dropped.

Not sure why escorts were ever needed as , according to some , there was never any trouble or it could easily be avoided. Waste of police resources and tax payers money then.

Millwall Away 87 (Adcock 1-0)

City fans frogmarched down the back streets of New Cross, and whistling the theme from Bridge Over The River Kwai

Still makes me laugh

I remember going to West Brom (about 87?) when Adcock scored in a 1-1 draw, when they nicked so many people in the ground, the away end was half empty by the finish. Singing, pointing, gesticulating, unless you were stood stock still in total silence, you were fair game. West Midlands were always the worst, with South Yorkshire not far behind

The Met were a pain in the arse but as someone as said re WBA West Midlands Police were just nicking people for the sake of it. Away fans only at Brum, Villa and WBA. Total corrupt biased policing every time.
