I think Arshavin and Pavelushenko were Putin supporters ( a lot of Eastern European and African players went into politics to be fair ) and I believe Viktor Orban was a keen amateur footballer too

They all seemed to be Tories in the 80s. I just assumed they (or any sports person actually) were Tories unless they said otherwise.
I remember the likes of Gerry Francis, Jimmy Greaves, Emlyn Hughes appearing at Tory election rallies.
In Hunter Davies book about Tottenham in the early 70s I think they all said they were Tories apart from Ralph Coates and Steve Perryman
