Poll Closed - Favourite Male Vocalist

I'll be voting for one of my favourite singers of a certain Punk band, The Damned. Dave Vanian has never received the plaudits he deserves due to the genre of Punk most often being fast and aggressive, plus they(The Damned) never really hit the heights of the charts, but perhaps Eloise has had the most radio play over the years which was a cover of the original song wrote and sang by Barry Ryan.

Vanian has a rich baritone voice described as impressively sonorous by one music critic, I agree. You may not of heard much of The Damned or even heard of them or Dave Vanian but have a listen and you may agree he can sing.

@Protein Junkie I'm deep in thought mulling over my top 10 pal. I've now whittled my list down to about 15 but I'll make the deadline. Cheers: )

You've probably heard this if you're old enough.

Unless you like The Damned i doubt you've heard these.

Apologies to correct you BMR but Eloise was written by Barry's twin brother Paul sons of the well known Marion Ryan if you liked the old music hall and grew up on radio in the 50's and liked watching BIT.

Check Marion out if you can a terrific voice.

Both have sadly left us too soon with Paul passing away at the age of 44 and Barry last year from COVID complications ( never confirmed ).

Eloise was the first song I ever heard on radio , love the long version amusing intro.

I played it non stop the day I heard both Paul leaving us and most recently Barry Ryan and still on my play list.

Commercially speaking one the best 100 songs produced since 1960 IMO.

All mooners on this forum I am sure would have heard one or the other but if not check it out.

Angus Young eat your heart out (LOL).

Great get BMR not sure if he would make my top ten but still haven't crossed him off.

Got it down from about 40 to 12 but struggling with the final eliminations. My No 1 was a complete no brainer but the others could be perm any 9 from about 20.
Doing well down to my top 50 will have to get a wriggle on.

Still unsure if I want to go with my heart which will secure me a nailed on zero points or my head which might get me a few points.

Females singers were much easier for me.

Maybe you can have a listen to the Damned mate. Not everyone's cup of tea, well not many peoples actually but they are one of my favourite bands and i voted Vanian as my number 1 male vocalist. I think the rest of my selections will surprise a few on here though: )

Looking back at the final table I think a lot of us found it easier with the female singers hence Kate Bush runaway victory.

Atm the Male Category is going to be a much closer contest.

Good shout, as you say he goes under the radar a lot. I believe seeing Vanian was the trigger for Dave Gahan to give it a lash and he certainly borrowed some of his vocal stylings.

Looking back at the Blue Moon Top 100 Bands and Artists results if any of the artists in that top ten bar bowie make the top 50 then I would be shocked, then again it's a favourite vocalist not talented vocalist poll ;-)

Several of my selections are based on talented male vocalists and are not my favourites. You're probably right in what you say though.
