So are people voting for their favourite male vocalist ie the one they listen to on a regular basis, or the one they believe historically has the best voice? Personally I can see Elvis or Sinatra winning the latter but not the former
It should be the former as that is the title of the poll.
It’s not about who is best but I’m sure the lines will blur there.
I have only shortlisted people I listen to reasonably regularly, but I have then chosen based on how they make me feel when I do listen to them rather than how much I listen. Quality rather quantity, my own #1 didn’t live long enough to leave a massive body of work behind but was so good it makes no difference.
The likes of Ray Charles, Sinatra, Elvis, Nat King Cole were all on my longlist because, irrespective of what gets listened to during the week, they are generally the soundtrack to family Sunday lunches. At least one of them will make my final list.
Anyway, it’s been a bugger, could have easily put together a 10 without straying from Stax and Motown.
