Was about to send my list when I realised all but one of them was dead, found that a bit strange given that there's quite a few contemporary singers I like too. So I revisited with a view to maybe replacing one or two, but couldn't justify it. This in contrast to my female list that had a majority of active artists. Weird.

Ended up leaving loads of truly great singers like Gregory Porter, Randy Travis and Louis Armstrong off the list before I even got to the ones who I love because their voices just suit their music perfectly such as Paul Heaton, James Taylor, John Lee Hooker, Richard Thompson, Peter Gabriel to name just a few.
