Porto (A) - CL | Post-Match Thread

We get plenty of decisions go our way in this competition take your tin hat off
But not tonight?

Im more bothered about their continual diving/play acting, the two late fouls on Foden from the same lad that didn’t see any reaction from the ref.

We are lucky that we’ve not picked up a few injuries tonight, absolute shithouse of a team.

Darke is horrendous, more interested in shite stats rather than commentate on the game, Bernardo with a sublime piece of skill, Ederson 2 unbelievable passes and not a feckin dickie bird, though we now know everything how Porto did in some poxy cup final against Benfica !!
He has got to be the new worst commentator, consistently got players names wrong tonight and just keeps rolling out the same boring facts about how much our team has cost ffs

Interesting and identical 442 set-up as Burnley, but with 2 forwards (Sterling and Ferran) up top instead of a 1 forward and a midfielder (Jesus and KdB).

I said in the Burnley post match that I thought Pep might play Sterling more in this "striker" role, and I thought looking at the set up that Ferran would try to create more but it didn't really happen.

Bernardo had more freedom initially to play inside than Foden, 2nd half Zinchenko stayed wide much more often and we very often saw the 2-2-6 with all 4 "forwards" playing narrow, this appears to be the clear way forward with Pep.

Overall pretty meh game, we should have scored but didn't. The defense was hardly challenged though which is good as I had doubts. Honestly think that we are unlucky, normally a goal happens somewhere in all that attack and it was comical how it just didn't go in, not arsed about it.

Porto played like the majority of teams do against us all behind the ball defend, defend ,defend then hope to get a break corners or freekicks, when you look at some of the talented Portuguese players playing outside their own country it’s embarrassing that one of their supposedly best teams resorts to that its a disgrace, the manager needs a kick up the arse the cnut ..

The standard of champs league officials is abysmal. So many cynical fouls and nothing given. It’s been the same nearly every game in this group.

Job done. Top spot confirmed therefore the lack of a win is irrelevant. However another same old same old performance, that was a missed opportunity to try out something different. we badly need other ways of playing because we’re currently relying on individual moments far far too much and instead we did what we’ve been doing all season. Meh.

Peps decision to only use one sub was a farce though. The stats tells us so many more muscular injuries occur in the last 15 minutes of games from fatigue. Fernandinho didn’t need 90, Doyle or Gundogan could have replaced him for 15 minutes, Ake could have got some much needed minutes into him in a number of positions, why make him travel if he didn’t plan on getting some minutes into him? Bernardo has ran his socks off tonight, even giving Kdb 10 minutes in his place doesn’t deplete his energy with future games in mind and saves Bernardo from the full 90. Shocking decision from Pep.

Does anybody think he just gets lost in his own brain and loses track of time?

Decent performance but still lacking threat up front. People give Mendy shit but at least he offers something. Zinchenko gets the ball in space, looks up, feints to play the forward pass and then nonchalantly passes it backwards.

TBF he did throw in loads of crosses that all but one hit the first man.

Joke mate. Not like is was a stroll in the park. We had to work hard tonight and the likes of Bernardo, Foden, Dinho will have expended a lot of energy tonight plus the Robust challenges they had to take.
