What shape was the team once Gundogan went off? It seemed more of a 433 and despite Porto needing to come out of their shell, the attacks started to flow 10x better. The link ups and passing triangles reminded me of what we can do!
Yip, agree with that.

Rodri looked much better after the substitutions but I couldn’t decide whether it was the change of our personnel/set-up or the fact Porto went more attacking.

Either way the game was much more enjoyable in that last spell.

I agree with you mate, but that doesn't excuse the fact that as a professional footballer he couldn't tackle or pass the fucking ball.
He should have been dragged off for that shit he served up for their goal, that was embarrassing.

He can't defend, at right back either. He's a remarkable defender, in that he can create a disaster from the most innocuous situations.

He's very very good going forward though & covers ground quickly, so that's the only role he should have, with anything he does defensively seen as a bonus.

He stopped hiding behind their striker & started showing for the ball at 2-1.

Ref was awful last night. Booking City players for absolutely nothing then missing some fouls that were definitely bookings on both sides. Pepe should have been sent off for the afters with Sterling. That's a red card any day in Europe. Seemed to be booking City for any little touch on a Porto player in the first half whilst letting play go on when we got fouled. Then in the second half decided to let pretty much anything go! At least we got our penalty mind - bit of a treat from VAR because I expected it not to be given having seen Gundogan's accidental foot in on the keeper.
Didn’t please the twatty Porto management did it, they almost assaulted the ref at full time.

It's not just UEFA to be fair, we had four bookings against Arsenal last Saturday. That makes 9 bookings over 2 matches during which we've been adjudged to have committed 30 fouls (15 in each match). Our opponents have committed 14 fouls (10 and somewhat incredibly only 4 last night) and received 1 booking each. I thought Garcia's was harsh and Bernardo's was laughable but, from memory, the others last night we're all for slightly late tackles where the player stood on the opponents foot which, in any league, generally earns you a yellow card. It's an issue that's going to cause us problems as the season progresses, particularly in the CL where 2 bookings means you miss the next match. Whilst I don't think we're refereed in quite the same way as others I also don't think it's something we can just ignore.

Its been going on for years, the other season i did a summery and if your in red it was a card every 12 to 15 fouls, us it was 1 in 4. Oppositions usually have to do red card offences or blatant fouls ie tugging shirts to get a yellow and we pick up such soft ones there is clearly something going in. I think it was the Southampton game that summed it up, they were time wasting from the 1st minute and allowed to and went 1 up. We scored twice in the last few minutes and then Eddy for booked for time wasting were they had been doing it for 87 minutes non stop

Ref stood out as appalling, it was almost like the south American players in the 70s and 80s with some of the cheat tactics porto played. Strange decisions he made on tackles on our players, the sterling incident in the second half, the aguero clear push, the dive in the first half for pepe when he thought he had been pushed. But then again we got a pen !

two fantastic goals, torres what a cracker. Good to see cancelo and not mendy. Got a win, good start to the table.

must say BT commentary for the game was to put it politiley "rubbish". Wish i had a quid for every time they said "city not firing on all cylinders"

Porto are like a team from the dark ages. Brilliant to hear their manager going intergalactic about Pep. Can't wait for the return leg.

Both Pepe and Conceicallo(?) shooting their mouths off, pair of wank biscuits. Rodri should have been off. No foul for our free kick!!! No pen for us. Should have had one for them. Pep being a tit apparantly.
Completely forgeting Pepes own antics towards Sterling of course, and phantom yellow cards for us.
Looking forward to the rematch.

What is wrong with these bellends? They and that prick of a ref are everything I hate about European football, clubs may like it, we might want to win it, the press may over hype it, but I fucking hate it!

Porto see UEFA and every other fucker treating our club like shit and just feel like its normal behaviour.

Time we took a few outside and kicked their fucking heads in.
