Re: Great effort lads...

A really good fighting performance by the Blues. Mancini gave that a real go and we did everything but score the second. I didn't get a good look at the tackle so I can't comment on Balo but I think there is somewhat of an overreaction which is a shame.

If we show the same spirit against Chelsea it will be 3 points in the bag.

we played well.
especially first half. then balo got sent off and changed the game completely.
always a uphill struggle when your playing a second half with 10 men, and kiev sticking 11 men behind the ball for large parts of the game.

kiev were pussy bastards, diving, time wasting, simulating and when you have a ref who is inept and falls for it every time youve got not only a hill but a mountain to climb.
the inconsistency from the officials was shocking, really 5mins extra time amounted to the time popov was on the floor never mind the subs and countless other acts of time wasting.

Re: Great effort lads...

Yeah it was a good effort, if that Balotelli chance goes in after 3 minutes then I think we would have gone through or at least took it to extra time. Just wasn't to be, at least we've got a trip to Wembley to look forward to!

A great performance tbh, aside from the obvious card.

Brave effort, everyone played their hearts out, sure we looked shit in the last 10minutes when we should be pressing but we were playing a man down and knackered as fuck.

NDJ was our worst player (even though he won MOTM for some reason), slowed down way too many attacks.

Both Kiev and the ref were absolute disgraces, but nothing we could do about that.

I expect Mario will start at Chelsea because he is Mancini's boy.

We blew too many chances, at the end of the day. We should have taken a defender off earlier,

Re: 10 brave blues, one stupid ****

He cant play in the semi final. He is a fcking accident waiting to happen in every game. Rags would have a field day with him.

9 bookings and 2 sendings off for a forward in less than 20 starts is just simply not acceptable.

He cost us that game and we are now out of europe because of him.

Mancini looked like he was ready to explode. Hopefully he will drop him now as he just cant be trusted

Man City boss Roberto Mancini: "It's a disappointing result. We deserved another goal tonight. We played a fantastic game with only 10 players. I didn't see the [Mario Balotelli] incident from the bench so I can't comment. But we would have won the game with 11 players on the pitch."

good effort from the boys..mad Mario`s a liability and needs to go...i was actually hoping they wouldnt score in those last 5 minutes cause they were knackered and another 30 mins would have done us in ..sunday is HUGE for City & more important than some Europa cup imo...finish 3rd & win the FA and i`ll be the happiest ive been since the mid 70`s

It might have been a good performance tonight but it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING because we were dogshit in Kiev.

Ballotelli has to go...he is virtually playing against us at times.

Gutted is not the word.

The first 5 minutes were phenomenal. The speed at which we played and the movement of the ball was impressive, with Richards and Barry standing out. How Balotelli missed that chance in the first few minutes, only he can tell us. As has been common for many of our games, it was very comfortable without us creating much after that, until the Balotelli sending off. I will talk about that later. Yeah, Kolarov's goal had an element of luck about it, but that is the kind of thing you need when you are two goals down. What we needed to do was take that momentum through half-time and come out like we started the first half. Completely blitz them, have them all over the place and hopefully nick a goal.

Chances wise, the second half was disappointing. The urgency from the first period was gone, and we were at pedestrian speed again. Was that familiar feeling of the others waiting for somebody else to step up and drag us through it. As try as he might, Tevez isn't quite on form, and no amount of running and effort will create a goal, he has to rely on the other players to contribute. David Silva was similar; there was plenty of effort, but today his en product was non-existent.

Positives:
There were hints of us playing excellent, quick football
Tevez looked like he was playing for the shirt
We can concentrate on the other competitions, and that precious fourth spot.
The performance was generally quite good
AJ and Milner are back.

Negatives:
Distinct lack of clear cut chances.

Now, for Balotelli. I am not defending his performance today. The kid just didn't seem to do anything right. His miss, his block from David Silva's shot, his running with the ball.... it was all below standard. And of course, there was the sending off. Yes, it was a sending off, it shows what frustration can do to you.
But instead of getting on his back, why don't we try something new and actually support the player? I know it sounds absurd, but hear me out:
Whenever he picks up the ball at our next home game, it isn't going to be encouraging for him to hear groans is it? He is a young lad, and his ability to pull something out of the bag in good situations is going to be invaluable for the rest of this season/next season. Just look at the Fulham game. We were void of ideas. He picks up the ball on the edge of the area, turns and scores. Just like that. Imagine if he did that in the last minute against Chelsea on Sunday? Or in the cup semi against the Rags? Or in the vital game against Spurs? I'm not saying he will definitely do this. But one thing that IS definite is the negative effects the witch-hunt will have on him. Getting on his back can only be counter-productive. Get BEHIND our player, for fuck's sake, instead of sending out a head-hunt!
