Post Match Thread: City U19 4 - 1 Juve U19

Thought against 9 men we should have done better. Turning point for me was when Patching came on. He scored a good goal, and opened up the Juve defence. He looks a real prospect.

Brilliant individual goal by Roberts. I wouldn't mind seeing him getting a run in the Cups. He would cause a lot of damage to slow defenders.

He is actually far more skilful than Navas. But of course the problem at the moment, at his age and size, would be tracking back to defend.

Cracking goal by Roberts, but I thought we made heavy weather against nine. Would have been a little uncomfortable watching that had Juve managed a little more self-discipline! Scoreline suggests a reasonably emphatic win but wasn't quite.

All that fuckin' water on the pitch did for our goalie. Is it all totally necessary to soak the pitch. Yer could see the water fizzing up at the beginning. Not surprising that the keeper goes on his arse for their goal.

Was was it was in the end. We really should have done better against a 9 man team and there were some moving parts that didn't quite fit together. Alex Garcia looks like a belter to me and his touch/technique/vision is fantastic but the midfield around him weren't really on his same level and much of his time was spent down dark allies.

Ambrose had a pretty bad day in front of goal. Numerous chances were miles away and he scuffed the majority, he's usually much better in that regards and probably had a bad day.

Man of the Match for me was definitely Patrick Roberts with a goal and two assists after dominating his wing with pace and trickery the whole game. Looks a step above everybody else there and he probably is.

Grimshaw showed good mental strength to pull himself together after his early mistake and our centre backs were solid as a rock though is to be expected from quite a developing partnership.

The result flatters our performance and we lacked a bit of zip today but we're top of the group after the first match so you can't ask for anything else. Interested to know why Grinshaw was chosen over Gunn as that was a surprise.

Gunn had a slight injury I heard

Cracking goal, shades of a certain Georgian dancing through Southampton's defence all them years ago :)
