Post match thread - City v Chelsea

Not sure if this has been posted before or not, Costa hits Fernandinho with an elbow but he just gets on with it, no rolling around on the floor so it didn't become a big incident that it maybe should have, they had words after the incident too..

Did see that - it was Gullit and Shearers justification for Fernandinho getting a red card beleive it or not, because after being elbowed in the head himself, apparently there's no way Fernandinho's elbow was accidental.

Twisted logic.

Remember when Steven Taylor clobbered Sergio over the head and was sent off, no different than what Costa did to Dinho. Virtually the exact same thing.

Genuinely not shocked Costa's antics haven't been highlighted.

More to the point considering how he behaved afterwards, Barton on Tevez.

Very interesting comments from Vinny about how we set traps all over the pitch.

That is exactly how it seemed, allowing Chelsea to play in certain areas of the pitch, and knowing what they would do when they got into those positions.

We're seeing it unfold with Sterling in the team. He's actually tucking in, rather than an outright wide man.

It's allowing Silva to move so freely and Sterling is absolutely crucial, simply because teams fear his pace.

In addition, it's also improving Kolarov, who knows he's got someone diligent enough to cover his attacking forays.

With KDB on the right, the options and movement is on Barcelona's level, outside of Messi being a freak of nature.

One thing I will say, I have no clue why we keep telling Joe to play that wide kick out to Sagna. Yes, Sagna won it every time, but it's just cheap gifting of possession because we have nobody around for the knockdown.

It's bizarre when you consider how careful and measured we are with the actual football.

Hart needs to be much more alive to rolling the ball out down the centre or sending Sterling away on a test of pace down the other side.

i was having a chuckle to myself about the hart kick outs to sagna, over the last two seasons chelseas m.o. was to kick out up to Ivanovich for knock downs, and poor silva was the guy trying to jump with him. it looks like we adopted their tactic to some degree yesterday - i also believe we used it effectively gaining some good possession from joes kicking.

i think we mixed it up well, if we tried to keep playing out from the back chelsea would have been closing us down a lot more aggressively. visions of stuttgart there :(

Anyone else seen the video of Costa elbowing Ferni at a corner about 5 minutes before he lead with an elbow?
Don't know of it's been pointed out on here before but Costa also put his hand round Fernandinhos throat in the first half as well. Similar to what he did to someone last season, the guy is a nut job, wind him up and watch him fail.

IIt's taken 12 months but everyone seems to have got Costa's number now. He still gets away with an awful lot. One referee is not enough when dealing with Chelsea. We blame the refs but it must be incredibly difficult to ref their matches.

Although they get away with stuff, quite happy for Costa and co to focus their energy on cynical ploys rather than the football. Costa lost focus on his football yesterday.

It was my sons first game yesterday, hahaha what a start!

Sorry to go over old ground on the ref, but fucking fabregas got away with murder yesterday, constantly pulling silva and fernandinho back, he only got booked with about 10 mins to go

How did ivanovic not get booked for checking sterling in the first half?

Alright you could argue about fernandinho, but they could have had at least 2 sent off yesterday, no straight reds but 2 yellows easy
