Post Match Thread: City vs Everton

having watched the highlights Stones gets totally the wrong side against Aguero for the 3rd decisive goal. Great finish, but should have been easily dealt with had Stones stayed awake

Their goal was not just Otamendi's fault. He made a mistake but Aguero was fouled in the build up, that's where EFC got the ball, and then there's zero pressure in midfield, Otamendi makes a mistake and Demichelis is too slow to cover.

Sterling had a great second half. As pearce emphasised he's great when he's driving at the defenders with the ball at his feet. I'd really like to see him play down the middle. I don't think we are getting all we could out of him. City seemed to be relentless in that 2nd half. Fernandinho, Zabaleta a lot of really good determined performances

Edgy first-half, showed all our nous and experience in the second.

Clichy and Zabba were outstanding as the game wore on.

Biggest picture of the night was the end of an era, possibly even an acceptance from Yaya?

He knows we can still get over the line without him and he seemed to have a smile on his face sat on the steps of the bench.

How much was Dele Alli again?
The second came from a brave headed interception from Clichy.

I think Clichy has got his full fitness now. Every player needs a little run after they have been out to get back to their best. We've got Zabaleta and Clichy now at their best. They helped us dominate that 2nd half

Unfortuatley Demichelis is not getting any younger and has not the pace to catch some of these younger players and ends up giving to many fouls away

Clichy is a decent defender but he is really poor when attacking.

I must have gone to a different game last night as i heard them sing their only song about 3 times during the match (how can a football team only have 1 song ? lol ) and thought they were proper shit for the amount of fans there and as for outside near the coaches what a load of fcuking nonsense grow up you twats ... you and your team got what you deserved ..... fcuk all .... :-)

They made more noise in the league game.

Loving the 'we go again at Carlisle'....even copying the red dipper #'s

Just me or anyone else disappointed with Silva again? Are we expecting too much of him?

Carelessly lost the ball a few times and Deulofeu should have scored off one of them.

Maybe I'm just being harsh.

Apart from the dreadful first goal, I thought Otamendi had an excellent game, particularly v Lukaku. He got knocked off the ball once or twice but he's not a big bloke & can't be expected to hold someone like Lukaku for 90 mins. That would be the job of a monster like Kompany ( & Mangala got nowhere near him in the first leg anyhow).

He's blowing hot & cold at the moment but if he plays like he did last night, it wil be good news for the run in.

Agree Yaya took his substitution well. Most of the team played well & Everton were lucky to get away with -3.

Good riddance. Whining scouse wankers.

The one player I thought was weak last night. Looks as if he's finding it hard work a the moment but hopefully he'll shake off his rustiness soon.

I thought Otamendi was our worst player. At fault for their first. It's not like him to take ball and man.
He is still far too rash, most come off and in all honesty, I was a rash centre half in my day and I love his tackling. But that totally needless foul he gave away in perfect Bains delivery range two minutes from time when we were down to 10 men was totally unacceptable. He really should know better.

If he calms his rashness, and doesn't chase the ball all over we really could have a gem.

I thought, other than 2 breakaways we defended well last night.

The two times we caught them offside in the final minutes just shows that we do and Pellegrini does know about defending. Couple that with being very good at defending set pieces, despite having just Demichellis who's 6ft plus in the second half. Shows we can defend. We are just vulnerable to the counter. Like most teams.

Yeh same, don't think it's for the lack of trying though. Probably doesn't help that we all know how good he can be and expect him to turn it on every game, week in, week out.

I don't know if I also speak for StockportMackem (I hope I do), but a massive congratulations from this Sunderland supporter for getting to yet another final. it seems as if that competition is made for MCFC. I don't like either of the Merseyside clubs and love it when anyone beats them - but the icing on the cake is to be beat by a club that my own get's on well with in the semi-final of a cup competition.

I was on late's at Nissan this week so I didn't see SSNHQ last night for regular updates (I don't have SkySports). I hear Sergio played very well indeed. Good to see De Bruyne score. Looked as if you weren't going to make it when Barkley scored in 20 minutes. I dare say with a fully fit side the score would have been more dominant?

Nice words mate, much appreciated, had a good gas with your crew in TGI Fridays at wembley before the League Cup final.

Very similar to city fans in a lot of ways.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Spot on .
Clichy was magnificent last night .
And Zabba was like a man on a mission .
Its like having two new signings having these two back from injury .

First half he was pretty poor, and granted he was guilty for the Deulofeu chance, after that though, he was very good in the second half. He needs the wide players to create space for him.

It's three games now where he's been dropped deeper to a midfield 2 and looked much better. The key is getting both him and De Bruyne central.
That is not easy. Especially with Aguero too.
Perhaps we could play 43111.
