Post Match Thread: City vs Southampton

second half played like a team who had been on a bit of a sticky run, but got over the line like a top team should

KDB is going to produce chance after chance for us, what vision to pick out kolorov for the 3rd superb

Or maybe the "dry your fannies" mob were celebrating the point at Leicester. - Rags don't complain when we lose.

As for yesterday I thought we were excellent for half an hour. Two goals and two or three other good chances. We could have been out of sight when they started to get back into it.
East was bloody awful allowing play to go on so long before awarding them the free kick from which they scored. But was his decision making any worse than the way we defended the free kick?
As for Bony - aaarrrggghhh!!! Good help in our third though. One question; would he have been able to reach the ball had he stayed onside for that late chance?
Back to Mr East; do we have a ref to explain the current thinking on advantage? I think someone posted the laws earlier but what about advice to refs. He seemed to think that it was OK to pull it back for a free kick if a shot didn't materialise but not if a shot was taken (Yaya late in the game). But he changed that for the late break by Southampton.
An on the subject of East; that foul on Sergio was a card all day long.
Southampton may play good football, but they are a set of dirty shits and aren't shy when it comes to falling over easily.
And I still hate them for that stunt following the final game at Maine Road.

Delph had a good game. I love his energy. I really think it's time to play Fernando, Delph and Fernandinho together.

Delph is good on the ball, not just a runner, and he has a good attitude. I am at the front, and you could see him instructing players and encouraging them. Two of Fernando, Fernandinho and Delph should be in our midfield. With the returning Silva and De Bruyne or the width of Navas/Sterling we've got enough to open teams up

Another great showing from Otamendi too. He was my MOTM. I know De Bruyne got it, but for a 20 minute period we lost control of that game, and in that time Otamendi won everything.

Ref should have booked their player for that opening foul on Aguero. They took advantage of the referee's leniency.

And what a fantastic finish as well. That was some goal although it wasn't really typical of our play

Manuel saying he hopes it's nothing and apparently Kun said he would be fit to play "tomorrow!" if of course we had a game tomorrow. Everyone said he landed funny but Manuel said he got kicked on the heel so heres hoping it was an impact injury

Just found this he did land funny..

Get everyone back, fit & in form.

Then we need to play with the intensity & style of the first 5 games and go on an unbeaten run of 12 to 15 games winning,respectively,10 or 12 of them.

We are capable, but we have to become like the All Blacks, ruthless, remorseless, ultra professional from top to bottom, particularily the coach.

They are the benchmark.....they ARE elite !
Looking forward to see the lads performing the Haka before the Hull match.

If we dont win the title it will be down to 2 fundamental issues. 1. We dont put away the umpteen chances we get. 2. The dreaded ongoing injury list. On a different point WHERE TF are the City fans nowadays. SO many empty seats almost every home match.....frankly its embarrasing and cannot be defended. If the players had a forum they would have every right to slag the "fans" off that dont turn up.

Talking about the ref. - When Kolorov took the free kick in the first half - their keeper - not sure if he pushed it onto the bar - then he recovered to fall on the ball -
and 2 City players went into the net. The ref gave them a free kick ? - Why FFS ?. The keeper wasn't touched , he was happy to have the ball in his grasp.
Still can't see why a free kick was given to them - even after watching MOTD.
Was that the free kick where the ref paced out 10 yards then walked back to where the Southampton wall was (3 yards further back) and sprayed his line there (I.e. 7 yards away)?

Liked the look of Van Dijk at Centre Half.
Very assured on the ball, brought it out with confidence and two-footed.
One to keep an eye on.

Really ? Today was the first time this season that there was quite a few empty seats. Most of them were ST no shows as the official att was still above 54k.
