Post Match Thread: City vs Spurs

Did you watch United v Sunderland?

They were rubbish. You should have had at least a point against Spurs having conceded a penalty that never was.

I accept Yaya seems off the pace these days and arguably at fault for losing possession for the second goal however he can still bring moments of class

As I say I think you'll easily be top 4 having now a 6 point cushion and only 6 points off the top you are still in with a shout for the title.

So we will have to agree to differ.

I think you're being too negative.

Yaya brings moments of class, but they are moments. In between it is like playing with 10 men. You are aware of him ambling around but he's not sprinting into space to providing an option for the man on the ball, or sprinting to close a man down. It is like playing with 10 men. He doesn't do enough. I don't blame him. He made a big effort from the KO yesterday but he can't do it, and yet Pellegrini kept him on for the entire 90 minutes. We have had a lot of bad luck this season, but Pellegrini is responsible for selecting Toure and that is a huge factor in City's struggles particularly against the better team who can retain the ball.

Simply because I don't see us dominating like past seasons. We have been to easy to play against at times, and not been ruthless enough going forward. We don't seem to be able to play to a high tempo for 90 minutes and we have a manager who doesn't seem to bother about trying to look for the weaknesses in the opposition. He just believes we have better players and that will suffice. I am afraid you still have to come up with more than one tactic to be successful.

Which manager did we have in those seasons you say we 'dominated'? Come to think of it, which season did we 'dominate' the league?

We didnt but its all part of the fantasy that we never lost a game or conceded a goal a few years back.

Tell it enough times and it becomes fact for some.

They didn't run through Yaya, they dispossessed Yaya.

Fernandinho shouldn't have needed to run across 20 yards, he should've been central. What was he doing that far over to one side?
That goal was predictable. I predicted it. Kelelchi was the right sub to make but should have left Fernando on to protect the back 4. Go gung ho in the last 5 minutes.

Leaving Toure on and taking off the defensive midfielder was just asking for trouble.

Pellegrini is making mistake after mistake at the moment

There is something seriously wrong with City lately, i'm not sure if it's down to the known departure of Pellegrini at the end of the season or something else. Either way, it was evident the team look to have less hunger, or have given up since Guardiola was announced. There's no fight and we look like a pub team when other teams press us, we just don't have a clue what to do with the ball. In my opinion we've gone backwards with Pellegrini and really hope Guardiola will shift a lot of players out as we're nowhere near the team of two seasons ago.

We needed an extra attacking player to stretch them, not take of one attacking player for another.

If it had remained 0-0 going into the last third of the game then I would've swapped Yaya with Kelechi but as it was we were chasing so had to take the risk.

In the circumstances I think it was the right way to approach it. The plan was working, they weren't troubling us and we were upping the ante as the game wore on. We were on top when Clattenburg intervened.

Remove Crappenberg's faux pas and we are still short. We played better after they scored the penalty but that might have been a reaction to the injustice suffered. And we looked the more likely to go on an win the game at 1-1, but where is the urgency from the first kick off. We might as well start 0-1 at the first whistle because this seems to galvanise the effort rather than forcing the oppo team into making mistakes. Manuel seems to leave much of the game play to his players. He is rarely animated within the technical area compared to other managers when it seems clear the players are deviating from the game plan. I think there has not been a team at The Etihad this season where our attitude has been "Well, come on, show us what you can do", rather than "We are MCFC, this is what we do!"

Toure is an attacking player on paper.

I'm not making any more comments on this. Fed up with it. All the points have been made. It's so obvious that he's finished as a footballer but some fans and the manager wont accept this no matter how bad his game gets.

In our style of play I was talking about. Almost every home game teams dropped back to their penalty area and we moved the ball around much more quickly. Yes it took us to the last day to secure both titles, but I always thought we would win it.

Since the first 5 games, I have seen nothing that gives me any confidence that we will win enough of our remaining games to win the league. Technically we are still in with a chance, but the fact is we haven't beaten anyone around us this season. I hope I am wrong but I wouldn't bet on it.
