Post Match Thread: Kiev 1 - 3 City

We played a team that has lost one european home tie in donkeys years , and we played them off the park , if we win on sunday and the dippers play shite , no doubt you will post the similar negative views .Good football teams do not allow the oppostion to play , and we were good tonight. Suggest you put the spade down now.
Or he could give it to someone else and ask them to hit him with it!

Great win. Totally deserved it and more. This is what you get if you can play nearly the best 11. Well done Pellegrini for setting us up perfectly. Although he won't get the credits as it's in most systems he is a clueless old man. I'm just happy to see the old City again. Gives a lot of confidence for Sunday.

Today's set up showed that Fernando has a place at city and quietly went about his business and shielded the defense.
Totally agree.
Look at that...Aguero Silva and Toure get the goals...just like the good old days
...and Hart with a great save.
Yaya rolled back the years.
....still couldn't run though :) I thought he had one of his best games for us tonight, and he still wasn't our best player.
Because we were playing a poor team. Yaya rolled back the years in the 90th minute. On the ball he is class.
Such a sad comment, on a very good night. I'm not surprised though.
I think Newcastle would have beaten Kiev.
Even sadder comment.
Fernandinho has to be the best £30m we've ever spent.
Hard to argue.
First time an English side has won at Kiev in CL!
No the rags have won there.
DON'T CHANGE THE TEAM ON SUNDAY... Simple
^This.

We were brilliant tonight, best we've played all season, from back to front, and more importantly from front to back, because we defended from the front, something that regularly annoys the f*ck out of me.

In order....

Fernandhino - 10
Sterling - 9
Fernando - 9
Sagna - 9
Yaya - 8
Silva - 8
Otamendi - 8
Aguero - 8
Clichy - 7
Kompany - 7
Hart - 7

Same team Sunday for me (injuries permitting), and anywhere near the same performance, we should be celebrating.

Fantastic first half, sloppy in the second half but held out and rounded off a nice night. Disappointed with the lack of subs given what's waiting for us on Sunday.

Thought the ref was very "lenient" in a good way to keep the game flowing. There were a few challenges flying in that would have got a yellow card from some officials and yet weren't even whistled up.

He also seemed to be smiling and talking to the players a lot. Wish there were more like him.

love the giff, we all know we are not as good as barca or bayern,''BUT'' on the day we can win these games esp if there having a bad day lets move on to the next stages and whoever we draw always remember '''it can be done''

Reading this thread has made me realise: if we'd have won every title going since 01/09/08, some of our supporters would be moaning that we hadn't lobbied hard enough to create more competitions.

Ultimately, that must be a desperate and pitiful world to inhabit.
Tonight was the perfect remedy after a rough couple of months. It's a result to be savoured, to be enjoyed. Having read through the thread up until this point it's hard to fathom what it will take to cheer some fans up. If you can't feel the joy after a win like tonight, a win that puts us in the box seat for a quarter final place, then you're not doing it right.

Yeah. We give them some shit when they are. But thought he had a great game. Don't think he could've called either penalty shout,
as he couldn't be 100%. Take note Mr Clattenburg.
