Rasputin had a daughter, Maria. After her father's assassination in 1916 and her subsequent exile, Maria moved around the world, working as a cabaret dancer, circus performer and animal tamer.
Her animal taming days ended in Miami when she was attacked by a polar bear. At the end of a lengthy hospital recovery, she decided to leave the profession.
She staunchly defended her father's legacy until her death in Los Angeles in 1977
According to Maria, Rasputin was a "simple man with a big heart and strong spiritual power, who loved Russia, God, and the Tsar." As opposed to being a charlatan, deviant, and king-whisperer that was hell-bent on power.
She wanted her children to be proud of their grandfather, and wrote three biographies to support that position.
