Postal workers are refusing to deliver British National Party election leaflets because they object to its “right-wing rubbish”.

About 100 workers in the West Country have told union leaders that they will not carry the leaflets, which bear an anti-immigration message.
Do you think it's right that they won't deliver them? I'm totally against most of the things the BNP stand for but it's not the posties job to just deliver what they like.

ycmiu.

I don't think it's right at all. Yes the BNP are dicks but this is a free country and if they want to try and win votes from people then you should let em.

It's their job to deliver what they're given, but I can see where they're coming from.

Wrong.
Actually postal workers do have the right to decline to deliver BNP stuff. The Royal Mail have an obligation to deliver it, which is slightly different.

I can't, as loathsome as the BNP are, they are a legitimate political party. The posties should stop playing politics and do what they are getting paid to do.

the postalworkers union have a signed agreement with royal mail boses that allows them to opt out of delivering highly objectionable stuff. if it was in a sealed envelope then no problem, the posties wouldnt know what it was, but its unadressed junk mail so under the signed and lawful agreement they have every right to refuse to deliver it.
