"Poverty Chanting"

People who are paying £50 a ticket to watch football shouldn't be offended by someone else saying they can't afford a potato.

Scousers really are a breed of their own, and anyone taking moral tips from the woman beating pisshead wants to have a word with themselves.

From the same peoples that thought it a laff to regularly open folk up with their snide shiny metallics bitd

...get to fuck

Callymore is a dick.
I fully supported the Miners strike in the 80’s but it didn’t stop me chanting
‘Arthur Scargill is a wanker, is a wanker”
and
“Get to work you lazy twats….”
at opposition supporters (most of whom had never been down a pit) every time City played a team from Yorkshire. I knew what I was chanting I didn’t believe in but it was a piss take that’s all.
Exactly. That's all it is - a piss take. If people think that those singing it are genuinely sneering at the poorest in society then they clearly don't get regionalist football banter. We get town full of smackheads thrown at us. Burnley and Stoke get town full of inbreds. Yorkshire clubs get "sheep sheep, sheepshaggers", etc. etc

That's a great post to be fair to you. "(town name) is a shithole, I want to go home" is every bit as offensive as "Do they know it's Christmas time?" - i.e. not at all. It's a laugh.

Hope there's a massive backlash and its now sung even louder at every game in defiance to this pathetic attempt to outlaw something else that doesnt need it.

Nobody is fucking laughing at people struggling to feed themselves or their family. I feel like anybody taking it literally and not choosing to take offence purely so that they can be offended, has never been to a game before and possibly has never stepped outside either. It feels like everybody has turned into a yank that doesnt get it all of a sudden.

I don’t get it

If the Scousers had any clue they'd start singing brother can you spare a dime or something and just take the piss out of being mocked thus completely neutralising it
