Another Pellegrini Maths Cockup
Manchester City beat Barcelona 3-0 but manager Manuel Pellegrini was apparently unaware that just one more goal would have meant Barcelona would have had to score at least 4 and not 3 in the Nou Camp.
Goals from David Silva, Negredo and Yaya Toure gave City a famous win over Barcelona. However, one more goal on the night would have seen Barcelona needing to score another in the return leg.
In fact for every extra goal City might have scored, Barcelona would have had to have scored another themselves but astonishingly with two minutes to go the former Real Madrid chief withdrew striker Negredo and replaced him with a defensive midfielder.
When asked by Sky Sports if he was tempted to go for the crucial extra goal and bring Eden Dzeko on off the bench he said: "What the fuck are you talking about, I do not understand?!"
The mistake in Munich was allowed to pass unpunished by City's unforgiving owners but a club source thinks this might be the final straw for Pellegrini - "this might be the final straw for Pellegrini" a club source said.
