Arsenal, Spurs and now the league winners humiliated. Liverpool and ourselves flopped in the europa. I know Sky need to sell subscriptions but this "best league in the world nonsense" trotted out year after year without fail, downright embarrassing at this point.

Eh?

Barcelona are the best side in the world no doubt, but if you think the Spanish League is much cop or the Italian you are sadly deluded just because they have exotic sounding names does not make them any good

they have two decent sides in Spain, we have a few. Not disputing Barca the best but the league as a whole? think we win.

Don't worry we will salvage some pride for the premier league next season....

(by the way, the premier League is definatley the best league in the world, not just the most exciting etc.)

Everyone knows Barca is the best team in the world, that's never been in doubt, however in terms of strength in depth, Premier League is strongest IMO, Spurs/Liverpool 5th/6th best club in England and they would reguarly beat most teams across Europe.

A few years ago, it was. But not anymore. Look at tonight. The best in England against the best in Spain. The two best teams in Europe. And look what happened. United tried, and they were run off the park. Like what they said on RTE. When Park's tired you might as well go home.

None of the Premiership teams, us included would have gotten near Barca.
How many of Premiership players would get into Barca's team. Or Real Madrid's for that matter.

It's exciting but like we saw tonight, there's a huge difference in top class and world class. United are a top class team, but Barca are world class.
And there is a trend that is only growing stronger. A few seasons ago a lot of teams were just feeder clubs, but now players are staying where they are.
It doesn't matter how much money we have, we're not going to tempt any of the best away from Spain, that's where they are and that's where they want to stay.

21 points between 2nd and 3rd, 33 points between 1st and 4th. As a league, how good is that?

2 teams make a mint, the rest get fucked. As a league, how good is that?

One team who has planned this for 15 years, one team who have bought this for 15 years - and more, how good is that?

This is a one off team with Barca that comes around once in every Blue Moon, just ask the best manager(s) in the whole wide world.

Anyone who thinks La Liga is a better league actually watch it?

There is fantastically entertaining football up and down the league but 2/3 of the team are absolutely dire quality-wise. Especially the defending which is embarrassing and would look in place in League One.

Barca and Real are better than our entire league, I think they are #1 and #2 in Europe with United being #3. Valencia and Villarreal come next and are decent sides but not as good as probably the top 6 English clubs. Sevilla, Bilbao, and the current version of Atletico Madrid (deteriorated and gonna be even worse if De Gea and Kun leave) would all probably be able to fight for top half spots in England but wouldn't be guaranteed.

Teams like Almeria, Hercules, Mallorca, and Getafe... well, what can you say, I think sides like Charlton, Hull, and Ipswich could beat them 7 times out of 10.
