Premier League flops 11

Keeper is a tough position to fill, your choices are limited and ther isn't really a really poor keeper in the Premiership at present, certainly not one who came for a big sum. I can see why De Gea was selected, huge transfer figure and has obviously had his struggles, but flop is a little harsh.

Ramires is simply wrong. He's been playing really well for Chelsea.

Stewart downing is a huge flop. Ramires is top quality though.
He's created 47 chances so far this season. That's hardly a flop.

define a chance? how many assists has he made?
Just something I read on OptaStats yesterday.

0 assists, but he's got the highest number of chances created without contributing an assist in the PL.

Ramires? Think he's awesome to be honest, goes down a bit easy but a great player nonetheless.

Not sure if bentley is still out on loan, he wasn't 17m though, our transfer record is 16.5m for Modric and it still is. Think the Bentley price is more around 15m but you can never really be sure. 1.5m would have been overpaying for him, really dropped a bollock there. A rather untidy blemish on our recent transfer history, don't think we'll be getting anything back for that one.

Also De Gea has started looking pretty good, don't think he could really be considered a flop yet, goalkeepers often take a while to bed in

Did you forget Bagpuss' cut?

He was bought in by Juande Ramos unless I'm mistaken. To be fair thats one of the reasons why it didn't go so well, the entire team was underperforming after investing heavily in the summer, and a change in manager mustn't be easy if you've just come in to a new club.

Downing is a nailed on flop. Says it all when his best games have been against Cardiff and Brighton, be it the big City lights of Liverpool or just lack of confidence but he has been poor. Last night he passed the ball back to defence when he was 10 yards or so outside Evertons area, that summed up his season so far.

Id probably say all of QPR, i know its their first season but after some of the signing i didnt think they would be in the relegation zone now. Another West London club that have ruined SWP!

SWP ruined himself by joining Chelsea

I don't like stats in football, it's not always reflective of the game.

A player can start an attack, retain ball possession, or just be a ball winner. His 'Opta Stats' and "Fantasy football" score would be low

Saying all this Downing has been awful, the crowd hardly get on their feet when he gets the ball, he hasn't been anything like he was at Boro or Villa.

Compare that to Milner who also went to a bigger club but has settled in nicely and doesn't look out of place there

agree, it says something when even the scousers aren't bigging one of their own up.

de gea was a flop to begin with but is turning it around with smart saves, but tbh there isn't really any other keepers that have been that poor.... maybe bogdan? but even he looks alright now.

talkSPORTS' Flop 11: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/features/2012-03-14/premier-league-transfer-flop-xi-savic-downing-barton-park-de-gea-and-more" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/fea ... a-and-more</a>

Savic is in it (can't argue with that), Nasri makes the bench. Sad to see SWP on there, his QPR career started so well but he seems to have returned to mediocrity. Has Wes Brown really been a flop at Sunderland? I remember him scoring an own goal against the scum in their 1-0 win over Sunderland and raging.
