Premier League Games 11/12/13/14 August 2023

Why is that TNT advert making out nobody in Europe would know where Newcastle is or who Newcastle are?

They’re the 9th most successful club in England, they’ve qualified for UEFA competitions 13 times, played in the CL twice and got to the semifinals of the UEFA Cup once. Yet they’re making out they’re Brentford or Luton.

Because they don't play in red and the average age of the TNT production staff is probably about 12.

I think putting a cap on it will just encourage the teams that time waste to really go ham and make sure they get bang for buck. Having a fixed gameplay time like 65-70 mins makes a lot more sense to me.
Yep, the only real fix for both fans (value for money) and teams (spirit of the game) is to go to a stop clock, with real, sustained punishment for time wasting infringements (so teams don’t do it anyway to break up rhythm or kill momentum).

But I still doubt they ever do that because football is inherently corrupt and allowing officials to have discretion in adding (or not adding) time allows for a means of influencing match outcomes.

So whilst that discretion it is not always (or even usually) employed for that purpose, the fact that it can be and is sometimes used for it, means moving to a stop clock is too great an opportunity cost to shoulder.

The same tossers who think that football started in 1992 and amended the record accordingly. Shearer doesn't hold the top flight record, PNE and Huddersfield deserve a mention instead of ignoring their history and Jimmy Hill was a shit load better than Spitty and Neville the Rat ;)

Not sure if Kulusevski suits that high up front. Seems more like a midfielder to me

Who's the keeper for Spurs? Awful punch into a dangerous area and I didn't see the Brentford goal in close up, but it looked like he was massively wrong-footed for that too.

Vicario, from Empoli. He would've saved the second goal if it wasn't for the deflection off their other new signing
