It's Smith, he knows what he's doing. He was in fact looking back at Jota when the ball passed him. His arms are high and it hit his lower forearm. He even lowers and raises his arms on the way down

It’s a natural position jumping. It’s how you jump high. Try to jump without raising your arms and see how it goes.
