Remember it well, actually it was 3-2 to Chelsea at our place but could have been more! United lost to Forest.
Yeah 3-2 it was, scoreline sounds close but they they were miles better than us on the day.it was a top of the table clash, and Platt Lane was absolutely rammed with them.a brilliant turn out tbf
Only 9k home fans at the bridge ,but they took 6k(?) to Maine rd when they turned their season into a promotion push..strange...
At O.T think it was Gary Parker who got the only goal for Forest in front of 56k.another 40k at Maine rd so just under 100k football fans in Manchester same day!
A bad memory from our game was City chasing the game at 3-1 down and having a corner at North Stand end, ball cleared..and suddenly Dixon,Dorigo and Durie were counter attacking at break neck speed ,all 3 of them powering over the half way line towards Platt lane with not a single City defender in sight ( Gerry Taggart where are you ??!!)
Andy dbible in goal had no chance...
I watched from the kippax terrace in disbelief...from the same position I viewed Oldham athletic destroy us 4-1 earlier that season with Roger Palmer( hat trick) and Ricky Holden taking us apart....before we got our own promotion push in gear that season.
