He is probably a shoe in for YPOTY. Wouldn't put it past the football writers to nominate him for actual PLAyer of the Year as well. Unless they still have the hots for Odegaarde.....

The writers award is increasingly insignificant and I doubt particularly cared about by anybody but themselves.

It’s the PFA Awards, voted for by the players themselves that seems to be held in quite high regard still.

And whilst professional players, like anybody else can be swayed by outside factors, it’s difficult to really argue against who they decide on collectively.
