Michael Oliver blocked off Baleba which allowed Palaca to break away and get a corner. Palace score from said corner.

Shouldn't Oliver have stopped play as refs do when they get in the way of a pass?
I belive they're only stopping play if the ball hits them, not interfering with players. I remember one match last week where he blatantly got in the way, and stopped play. I don't think he was supposed to.

I recall Gene Wilder the Sheff U manager kicking up a stink a few years back when we profited from the ref blocking one of their players.

Yeah, remember that as well. At that point, the rule was simply that the referee was "one of the players", or simply part of the terrain. He could deflect a shot into the goal and it would count. Similar to a certain beach ball :)
