i'm lost for words with this guy. how does he do it. at some point my hatred for him has just turned into admiration
 
Not watching the game, but I'm assuming he didn't touch the ball. In that case, the attacker is offside.

that’s always been my opinion but now they are saying if the defenders attempts the ball, this decision is right but the other end is bull shit.

No, I think if the defender touches the ball having intentionally tried to play it, that plays the attacker onside (witness France's winner last weekend). If the ball flicks off a defender who hasn't tried to play it, then the attacker is offside.
