Imo he was the best player of his era. Was he better than the others you mention ? Its hard to say but if he were playing today on perfect pitches and being protected by referees (which didnt happen in his day) I think he would be a genuine contender for best player in the World. He was an astonishing player. Just a pity all the off field distractions that came to a young, good looking lad with plenty of money derailed him. I remember him being on "friendly terms" with Mary Stavin back in the day. Swedish girl, stunning, reigning Miss World at the time.
