Premier League Games 18/19 Feb '23

I feel for Pope there, it’s very harsh he misses a League Cup Final due to an incident in a League match that’s not related. It’s double jeopardy, missing most of this game and the Cup Final. It wasn’t violent conduct.

Don't all the domestic competitions count as one in respect of bans? European games are a separate entity, though.

Newcastle need to write this game off and realise they have a cup final next week before they get more players sent off.

You are correct but I think it’s very harsh. Players will be wary of getting sent off and missing the final.

Yes, it's harsh. 100% agree. But I'd imagine that most players playing at that level would be aware of the potential risk of getting a red card. Did he really need to do what he did? They had very little chance of pulling two back anyway, so letting Salah carry on and score may not have changed the course of the game that much. Now, with only ten men, they've got next to no chance of getting anything from the game.

And yes; I fully understand that he panicked, and just automatically grabbed the ball. In that split second leading up to the incident, he wasn't thinking of next weekrnd

Can’t Toon organise a midweek game at short notice, like Spurs did that time so Ruddock could play against us in the cup.
