Premier League Games 2/3 Dec '23

i did and for 70 minutes Newcastle was flying and should have put the game to bed, But then Newcastle started wasting time and trying to kill the game and then they Let United push forward, United did score but the world-class defender Maguire thought it would be funny to get himself offside hahaha

Newcastle are a team that needs 2 or 3 goals to kill games off because if they don't they defend and park the bus for the last quarter
They put so much into the game that when the time come, they had nothing in reserve. Even then, they had multiple chances against huge money coming off the bench.

Almost 60% possession with nearly 3 times as many shots. United only had 1 shot at goal, they were that shit!

Thank fuck they didn’t need to 2 or 3 goals tonight, Newcastle have made our day.

You can get away with it a couple of times, but the better teams will kill you if you don't put the game to bed.
Eddie Howe is a good manager, But good managers don't win things playing like that, Liverpool, under Klopp used to play like that but they normally score 3 or 4 and the game was over, then they controlled the game by any means possible, fake injury kick, the ball going out and the ball boys gone missing, keeper time wasting, getting in other players faces, just about the trick in the book, but never defend by parking the bus

Newcastle trounced them, in every stat. They knew how to beat them, which was nothing like us a season or so back.

I‘m smiling tonight.

Early days for Newcastle, reminds me of us in the early days after the take over.

Progress

Really gets on my goat this rope-a-dope tactic of sitting back, letting the other team do all the work, riding your luck and attacking for the last ten minutes. Most lower to mid-table teams are now doing it and commentators seem to think there is something admirable about it.
Lower teams need to be pragmatic and do exactly the same against united, its the only way to avoid the inevitable united 1-0 win with a goal in the 88th minute.
