I think the lack of force is probably why he doesn't get red.

Not sure they would have overturned it if the referee did give a red though but they rarely do that nowadays, usually give a yellow and make VAR decide.

I agree the wording of the law is quite clear about excessive force. The tackle was high but not at all forceful which has saved him. But it wouldn’t be overturned either way.

That is the trouble with VAR they invariably support whatever the referee decides.
