They reckon the Emptihad is the same. There was a champions league game called off a few years ago now (German opponents, was it?), due to a badly waterlogged pitch. The rain eventually stopped during the scheduled first half, and by the time that the original game would have ended, the pitch was perfectly playable.

Borussia Monchengladbach I think. Although from memory it wasn’t the pitch that wasn’t playable at any time, it was for the safety of supporters travelling to the ground.

The roads were rivers an hour before the game. By kick off time it had stopped, but there’d have been hardly anyone in the stadium to watch the match.
