Premier League Games 23/24 Sept '23

Relegation battle will put hairs on Mcatee’s chest.

Add that to his clear ability and we’ll have some player for the squad next season.

I admit I'm being harsh on him here, but if he were a Bournemouth, Burnley, Everton, other Sheff United player playing in a 0-6 home defeat would anyone give him a second look?

People on here suggesting we go for James Maddison were laughed at in the summer, and he's an experienced player who had at times shone in the Premier League.

I expect James will come back to City in the summer, having been relegated, and find himself behind Oscar Bobb in the queue, as he'll have had Pep keeping a close eye on him all year. If that happens, he's not going to get games for us and will probably leave. It maybe for the best for his career if he does, he'll find his level one way or another.

It feels like we already know who is making the top 4 (plus 1 outside chance), and who is getting relegated (plus 1 outside chance).

Top 4
City
Arsenal
Liverpool
Tottenham

Brighton outside chance

Relegated
All 3 promoted teams

Bournemouth outside chance

Not sure he is going to develop much at the Blades, given how they play and how little goes through him.

As I said earlier in the thread, if he is going to be in a relegation scrap, I would rather him be at Burnley, which play much more like us, have far more possession in games (so McAtee will get more of the ball), and who have a city legend that knows how to manage/motivate young players.

Just had a look on a few stat sites and Burnley have had approx 10% more possession that Sheff Utd so far this season so that’s neither here nor there but I agree mate Burnley at least try to play a passing game.

Playing for either would put hairs on his chest though.

How did we struggle against this lot????
Because promoted sides always play above themselves in the first few games before reality kicks in.
Don't forget this lot nearly won at Spurs last week.
Back in the day (1966) after we got promoted I remember we beat Liverpool 2-1 at Maine Road, a massive result at the time, but we couldn't sustain that level of performance and started getting smacked at home by the top sides.
