He wasn’t interfering! He was stood in front of the net 6 yards offside, a defender leaves him for that purpose, but he gains and advantage by been there! The rule is bollcks.

We used to have that rule ages ago I think, if anyone was offside, even if not interfering, on the other side of the pitch for example.. it was offside.
